Relevant installation, design and safety calculations EN ISO 13849-1 was harmonised on 8 May 2007, but it should be noted that there is a transition period until 30 November 2009 during which machine builders can choose whether to work to EN 954-1 or EN ISO 13849-1. This standard was greatly revised in November 2006. This revision has caused major changes in the fundamentals of safety system design.
